phone calls
it's been a while since i've had - nay, any (with one exception) - substantial conversations on the phone with friends. this is, apparently, one of the signs that you are getting old.
brings to mind what adrian tan wrote in the teenage textbook
for the uninitiated or the international audience, it's a story, not an actual textbook. or at least, the concept is something like the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. come to think of it, it's not. but i digress.
where was i? the teenage textbook. yes... he wrote something like: before the telephone was invented, there were no teenagers. people just went from pre-pubscence to adulthood without much fuss, angst or pimples.
anyway, the two conversations centered around the adult topic of getting married (surprise, surprise). the first conversation i expected. the second... well...
another shotgun.
that's the fashion nowadays. i just wish phone calls would come back into fashion.
